Building a Shih Tzu Puppies Family

House training a Shih Tzu Puppy is just like raising a member of the family. You will need to have your home ready for Shih Tzu Puppies Family Members when you bring them home from the breeder or pet store. Make sure that you know where your Shih Tzu puppies will be spending most of their time because they will need an area that is free of clutter and a comfortable place to sleep, lie down, and sleep. Housebreaking your puppy is an essential part of Shih Tzu puppyhood so make sure that you are prepared and disciplined.

When you begin house training your Shih Tzu Puppies, always keep in mind that you have the power in the relationship and that your Shih Tzu puppy has to follow your lead. Never pull your Shih Tzu Puppies away from you or beat them when they are getting impatient. Be patient with your puppy and remember that Shih Tzu Puppies takes time to become accustomed to their new surroundings, so do not expect them to be house trained right away.

When your puppy is still young, make sure that you know all the commands and not just some basic tricks such as "sit" and "heel". Be sure that your puppy knows what these basic commands are for so that you will not have to teach them something that they do not know. It is best to start training your puppy while it is still a puppy because puppies are more easily trained and understand things better than adult dogs. If you have been taking your Shih Tzu puppies to obedience classes, make sure that you take your puppy there with you. This will help you work together in teaching your puppy what you are trying to teach them.

When house training a Shih Tzu Puppy, you will need to create a schedule for your puppies playtime, eating, napping, and sleeping. Be consistent in your actions and if your dog stays out of your way then it is doing its job. A Shih Tzu puppy is smart enough to understand that when you are gone it will be taken care of. It is up to you to make sure that it knows that you will always be home so that it will not confuse the routine that you have established.

Always welcome your puppy into the family and let your family members and guests know that the Shih Tzu Puppies belongs to the entire family. If you have other pets in the house, be sure to tell them too. The Shih Tzu is a very social animal and wants to be part of a family. Dogs like to please their owners and if you have other animals in the house it will confuse the routine that the Shih Tzu puppy will have when it is a puppy.

Be sure to take your Shih Tzu puppies on regular walks. This is a must for the puppy and also for the family members. Be consistent with your visits to make sure that your puppy follows your instructions. If you have other pets in the house, be sure to let them know who is in charge because they can become confused. Shih Tzu puppies are very intelligent and once trained will become members of the family.
